How Can I Analyse The Quality Difference?
Many of our clients, are not selling clothes and don't have much professional knowledge
about fabric or workmanship.
They make customized clothes for their own brand and company, yet don't know how to tell
whether the quality is good enough or not, or if the finished product is value for money or not.

The Fabric
"How can I tell the fabric quality? "
" Is the difference of fabric just cotton or polyester? "
Common Fabric For Some Clothes Styles
Some general knowledge about fabric:
The finer the yarn is, the higher the density when it is woven. A thicker yarn, when woven, creates a looser weave, hence a lighter, less dense textile. When evaluating textile quality, high density and softness tend to go hand-in-hand.
As a rule, you can expect textiles made with high yarn counts to be thicker and softer than textiles made with low-count yarns.
(at the same fabric weight, 26S is with higher density than 21S) ;
"100% cotton" / "50% cotton 50% polyester" is only the material composition of fabric, it doesn't mean 100% cotton is better quality.
For example, for the same 100% cotton single jersey 160g fabric, there are hundreds of quality levels, each fabric supplier produces different quality of
material, and surely at different fabric prices. We have been handling thousand kinds of fabric and know exactly which ones we should avoid using.
The Workmanship
Chapter 1
THE FABRIC
Why do we always do pre-wash for our fabric before production?
- 1, To pre shrink
- 2, To wash out dirt and chemicals from the production process
Most fabrics from natural fibers shrink when you wash them. Cotton fabrics often shrink around 5%. But a shrinkage between up to 10% is not uncommon in fabrics made from natural fibers. So if you don't wash your fabric before sewing, and then wash your final garment, your garment you might not fit correctly.
Another important reason is to wash out the dirt / remove chemical sizing / starch treatments / excess dye from the production process. The treatments make it easier to handle the fabric during production and strengthens the yarn for weaving, washing them out will soften your fabric.
